The travel subsidiary of CFL will cease trading at the end of March 2026, the state-owned company announced on Monday. Created more than 25 years ago, CFL Évasion has not withstood changes in the tourism sector and a strategic refocusing of the rail group on its core business.

On 26 January, CFL announced the closure of its travel and tourism subsidiary CFL Évasion on 31 March 2026. This decision is part of an overall strategic review by the group, which wishes to refocus its investments and resources on its core rail activities, the group said.

Founded in the late 1990s, CFL Évasion had celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023. Business had grown markedly that year, with sales up 27%. In 2024, sales fell by 5% in a tighter market, while business travel rose by 8%. The subsidiary also launched a new website in 2024. In financial terms, CFL Évasion closed the 2024 financial year with a profit of 47,154.6 euros.

According to CFL, the tourism sector is currently undergoing profound structural changes, involving major investment in technology, training and infrastructure. The group also points out that less than 3% of trips sold by CFL Évasion were by train, which has contributed to the subsidiary’s gradual move away from CFL’s railway DNA.

CFL assures that this closure will have no impact on trips already booked. All existing commitments will be honoured and no journeys will be cancelled. The operational takeover of files will be handled by Travel Group Luxembourg, via its We love to travel and Emile Weber networks, a long-standing partner of CFL Évasion and a well-established player in the tourism sector in Luxembourg.

Five employees are affected by the closure. The CFL group has indicated that they will be offered internal redeployment solutions within the group’s various entities. Finally, CFL would like to thank CFL Évasion’s customers for their loyalty over the years, as well as Travel Group Luxembourg for taking over the current projects.
