Besix Red, a real estate development firm, active in 19 European cities, announced the appointment of Laurent Maes as its new chief financial officer in a press statement on Tuesday.

Laurent Maes has been appointed as the chief financial officer of the property developer Besix Red, effective from 1 January 2024. Besix Red, a subsidiary of Besix Group, the appointment in a press release on Tuesday 9 January.

Before this, Maes served as the senior vice president group controlling and business planning at Radisson Hotel Group. He has over 16 years of experience in finance and control, including a significant period at Johnson & Johnson. Earlier in his career, Maes was a management consultant in strategy and organisation practice at Arthur D Little.

Maes is an MBA graduate from the Vlerick Leuven Ghent Management School and holds a master’s degree in applied economics and engineering from the University of Antwerp.

Gabriel Uzgen, CEO of Besix Red, commenting on Maes’s appointment, noted his extensive international experience and his alignment with the company’s focus on environmental, social and governance objectives.

Maes, discussing his new role, expressed his commitment to meeting the company’s objectives of growth, profitability and sustainable performance, acknowledging the challenging financial landscape and the emphasis on sustainability.

Basix Red reported a turnover of €191.5m for the financial year 2022.
