The discount retailer Lidl had appointed a new general manager for Belgium and Luxembourg, Marjolein Frederickx.

“Lidl has experienced further sustainable growth in the market over the past two years in Belgium and Luxembourg under the leadership of my predecessor, Matúš Gála,” the firm’s Marjolein Frederickx stated in a press release on Friday. “I am looking forward to continuing with the current strategy, which creates added value for our customers as well as for our employees and all key stakeholders.”

Frederickx, who has been group finance director since 2017 in Belgium and Luxembourg, will become managing director for both countries in September.

Frederickx, who joined the group in 2009 in a variety of positions before studying for an MBA at Vlerick Business School, succeeds Matúš Gála, who will play a key role in Lidl's development in several countries.
