The US bank JPMorganChase is further establishing its presence in Luxembourg with the signing of a long-term lease in the future The Waves building in Kirchberg. The group plans to bring its 800 Luxembourg-based employees together there from 2027, in a building designed to serve as a new hub for its European banking, securities services, payments and asset management operations.

The future Luxembourg headquarters will be located at 1 Rue Lucien Thiel, in a 14,000m² building spread over eight floors and developed by Felix Giorgetti. The entire building will be occupied by JPMorgan Chase & Co., which expects completion and the move-in to take place by the end of the first quarter of 2027. The project is aiming for Breeam Excellent and Well Gold environmental certifications.

“Luxembourg is a key part of our global operations across several of our business lines,” says Philippe Ringard, senior country officer and head of Asset Management for Luxembourg. “We are delighted that our new headquarters offers our employees a state-of-the-art working environment and an exceptional venue for welcoming our clients. This investment underlines our long-term commitment to Luxembourg, its communities and our clients.”

Beyond a simple relocation, the project also illustrates the evolution of JPMorganChase’s position in Luxembourg. Having operated in the country since 1973 as a custodian bank, the US institution has gradually expanded its activities to include asset management, private banking, securities services, payments and commercial banking. The group points out that, over the last two decades, it has become the country’s leading asset management firm and the second-largest player in fund custody and administration.

A showcase to boost visibility

The future building is also intended to showcase the employee and customer experience. JPMorganChase promises a customer centre, flexible collaborative spaces, wellness facilities, a restaurant, coffee bars, facilities for cyclists, and direct access to the new tram line.

The group also emphasises its commitment to enhancing its local presence beyond its financial activities alone. “Our commitment to providing first-class services to our clients is matched by our commitment to the Luxembourg community,” explains Martin Wallmann, head of the Luxembourg branch and Securities Services. “Moving into the new building will create opportunities to step up our efforts and expand our partnerships.”
