Baloise Luxembourg has announced the appointment of Sandra Bento as executive general counsel, effective Wednesday 1 April. In this role, she will also join the company’s extended executive committee.

Baloise Luxembourg has appointed an internal candidate to strengthen its legal team. From this Wednesday, 1 In April 2026, Sandra Bento will take up the post of executive general counsel and will immediately join the extended executive committee. She succeeds Benoît Piccart.

Sandra Bento joined Baloise Luxembourg in 2012, where she held roles in wealth planning and LPS product management. Since 2022, she has served as head of legal, overseeing the local market, international life insurance and corporate legal affairs, whilst continuing to supervise wealth planning and product management for international life insurance.

Before joining Luxembourg, the new executive general counsel cut her teeth in Portugal, first at a law firm and then at Deloitte, where she specialised in taxation. Aged 44, with a degree in law and taxation, having completed the General Counsel Academy and holding ILA certification in corporate governance, Sandra Bento brings a profile perfectly suited to the sector’s current demands. Internally, she is described as possessing “rigour” and an “analytical mind” that enable her to operate “effectively in complex environments”, explains the press release issued on Tuesday 31 March.
