Although it was one of the most eagerly awaited events of the beginning of 2022 on the Luxembourg and Belgian gastronomic scene, future visitors will have to be wait as the Michelin Belux ceremony has been postponed from 11 February to 23 May. The venue--the Théâtre Royal de Mons--remains unchanged. Restaurants and chefs will have to wait until May to see who receives or loses a star, or gets an award.
The reason for this postponement is obvious, as large-scale physical meetings are for the moment very limited in Belgium, and the red guide wishes above all “to do everything possible to ensure that the profession meets for a convivial and warm moment to celebrate the new Michelin stars”.
“The past year has been an extremely difficult one for the restaurant industry around the world. Nevertheless, despite the challenges that professionals continue to face, our teams have been impressed by the level of commitment, dedication and creativity that chefs and their teams have shown, while continuing to deliver the highest level of dining experiences,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guides.
It should also be noted that the 2022 selection of the Michelin Guide Belgium and Luxembourg will be available exclusively in digital format. While waiting for these revelations, Michelin will highlight one establishment each month from the beginning of the school year 2021.
