Utmost Group consolidates its European life assurance business under one brand after acquiring Lombard International in December 2024.

Utmost Group, the international insurance and savings provider, has completed the integration of Lombard International into its operations, rebranding the Luxembourg-based life assurance firm as Utmost Luxembourg. The announcement marks the formal completion of the merger into Utmost’s international life division, Utmost Wealth Solutions.

The rebrand unites Lombard International’s operations with Utmost Wealth Solutions, creating a single provider of insurance-based wealth solutions across Europe. Utmost said the new structure reinforces its commitment to Luxembourg as a strategic centre for its European business, complementing its existing presence in Ireland. The change, effective in November 2025, follows the acquisition completed in December 2024.

As of 30 June 2025, the combined entity manages €124.9bn (£107.1bn) in assets under administration and serves around 200,000 clients globally. The company said the integration enables it to provide a consistent client experience and maintain jurisdictional flexibility for policyholders across the European Union.

Utmost Group stated that its immediate priority is to capitalise on opportunities across its international markets while continuing to invest in technology and service delivery. The integration aligns Utmost Luxembourg’s client servicing, regulatory oversight and product offering under one unified brand, which the firm said strengthens its scale and value proposition.

Paul Thompson, Chief Executive of Utmost Group, said the rebrand marked “a pivotal moment” for the company’s wealth business, adding that the integration of Lombard International “enhanced our scale, value proposition, and ability to serve clients across Europe.”

Jurgen VanhoenackerJurgen Vanhoenacker, Chief Executive of Utmost Luxembourg, said the merger “strengthened our ability to deliver the highest quality service to our clients” and that the group would leverage its “expanded geographic footprint, bespoke client offering and local market knowledge.”
