On 1 October, the National Lottery announced that Loïc Hoscheit will succeed Léon Losch as director at the end of 2027, when the latter retires. The organisation’s board of directors selected him unanimously. He will join the organisation on 15 February 2027 to prepare for the handover.

Loïc Hoscheit will take over as head of the National Lottery at the end of 2027, when Léon Losch retires after 33 years with the organisation, 27 of which he spent at its helm. The board of directors of the Œuvre nationale de secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte unanimously appointed him on 30 September 2026, following a recruitment process that began in May.

A transition starting in February 2027

Loïc Hoscheit will join the National Lottery on 15 February 2027 for a transitional period alongside Léon Losch. When he takes up his post as director at the end of 2027, he will also join the management team of the Œuvre alongside the director responsible for philanthropic initiatives. The chair of the board of directors, Danièle Wagener, emphasises that “Loïc has the necessary skills and qualities to enable him to meet the future challenges facing the National Lottery”. The future director will also be tasked with continuing Léon Losch’s strategic plan.

A journey through sport and sports betting

Loïc Hoscheit, a 36-year-old Luxembourger, has been head of the Luxembourg Agency for Integrity in Sport (Alis) since October 2023; the agency was previously known as the Luxembourg Anti-Doping Agency (Alad). After attending a sports-focused stream at the Lycée Aline Mayrisch, he continued his studies in Paris, where he obtained an MSc in Management from ESSEC Business School. He began his career at Amaury Sport Organisation, before joining Winamax as head of sports betting trading.

“It is with great enthusiasm, but also with humility and a deep sense of responsibility, that I look forward to this collaboration with the Œuvre,” says Loïc Hoscheit. He also refers to the “principles of responsible gaming that have guided the National Lottery since its inception”. The Lottery’s profits constitute almost all of the Œuvre’s resources and fully fund initiatives for the public good. This public body supports initiatives in five areas: social welfare, culture, the environment, sport and health, as well as remembrance and heritage.
