Paperjam has put together a list of the perfect spots for your afterwork get-togethers in May. Whether you fancy a drink or a night out, there’s something for everyone.

Mikrokosmos

De Gudde Wëllen Mikrokosmos has emerged from the cupboard for the summer: this micro-universe nestled in the heart of Édouard André Municipal Park reopened its doors on 23 April, with the same promise: open-air concerts, lounge sessions and good food. Created as part of the Luga Festival, the concept blends music, nature and culture in a setting that even non-clubbers will appreciate. Table bookings available. Atmosphere: great, naturally.

18, avenue Emile Reuter – Luxembourg (City Centre)

Jazzy

On 30 April from 5pm, Specto celebrate International Jazz Day with a live saxophonist, bartenders in bow ties and a selection of cocktails paired with cigars.

Belle Étoile Shopping Centre, Route d’Arlon – Strassen

Retro

The Mermaid opens its doors on 2 May for an 80s retro night – sing along to all the hits of the era, from glam metal and new romantics to unapologetic mullets. The most flamboyant and wildest era in music history is back for one night only.

145, rue de la Tour Jacob – Luxembourg (Clausen)

Afterwork Day

The Café Club It’s happening again: on 3 May, on the terrace of the Nationalmusée, and on 28 June, at GridX. The concept is simple: we party in the afternoon and are back on the sofa by 8pm. Perfect for those who love a good atmosphere without paying the price the next day. Booking essential.

Nationalmusée Marché-aux-Poissons – Luxembourg (City Centre) and GridX, 4–6 Rue des Trois Cantons – Wickrange

Hip-hop

The BAC is hosting on 6 May, from 9pm, a ‘beats & tracks’ night featuring DJ Phixion and Giamba SRCM, with a freestyle open mic for all MCs keen to drop some bars. Cocktails will be served.

7, rue Vauban – Luxembourg (Grund)

GIN-dustry

On 17 May, from 11am, the Minett Park Fond-de-Gras is hosting the GIN-dustry festival: a dozen national and international producers are offering gins to be enjoyed neat or with tonic, in this unlikely industrial setting nestled in the countryside. Live music, food trucks and bottles to take home.

2, Fond-de-Gras – Niederkorn

Terroir

On 24 and 25 May, 27 wine-growing regions of the Luxembourg Moselle are opening their doors for Wine Taste Enjoy. The idea is simple: there’s no set route – you stop wherever you like and sample wines, crémants and spirits directly at the producers’ premises. Free shuttle buses run between the wine-growing villages for those who’ve had a few too many. Entry is free, but booking is recommended at the most popular estates.

Art & Wine

On 22 May at 6pm, the Villa Vauban is hosting a collage workshop led by Esther Correia of Molling Wines, followed by a tasting of three wines.

18, avenue Emile Reuter – Luxembourg (City Centre)

Free!

The Buvette des Rotondes has a new management: De Gudde Wëllen is now running the bar, bringing its usual touch – craft beers, cocktails and a terrace open from 5pm Wednesday to Saturday. On Thursdays, it’s time for the in-house ‘Off Duty’ after-work drinks.

3, place des Rotondes – Luxembourg (Bonnevoie)

Stand-up

Every Wednesday at 7.30pm, Luxembourg Comedy transforms the Grand’Place Bar at an improv comedy night. Two hours of fun with colleagues without breaking the bank.

23, rue du Fossé – Luxembourg (City Centre)

Best wishes

La Mara is the beer that Archibald De Prince launched with his friend Paul Michel, owner of the Insomnia in Arlon. A light lager at 5% ABV, brewed on the Belgian side at the brewery Mille Vertus thanks to its spring water, it can now be found on the restaurant menu, in the homemade bread and in an increasing number of establishments across the region.

6, Lauterborn – Echternach
