UK lender Lloyds’ wholesale banking arm has been authorised by the Luxembourg Financial Sector Supervisory Commission to open a branch in Luxembourg, in the second banking licence issued by the regulator so far in 2026.

Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets plc, the corporate and markets unit of Lloyds Banking Group, has been granted a Luxembourg banking licence by the Luxembourg Financial Sector Supervisory Commission and will operate locally as Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets plc Luxembourg Branch.

The lender is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group plc and sits on the wholesale side of the group, providing corporate and institutional banking and markets services rather than day-to-day retail banking.

According to the licence and registration details, the branch is registered at 2 Rue Albert Borschette, L-1246 Luxembourg. Alison Ann Clarke is named as the branch’s permanent representative in Luxembourg.

The authorisation is the second banking licence granted by the regulator so far in 2026, following the licence issued to DZ Privatbank AG, Niederlassung Luxemburg.

The licence has been issued under the CSSF category for branches of credit institutions originating from a non-Member State of the European Union authorised in Luxembourg, a route used by banks headquartered outside the bloc to operate locally through a branch rather than a separately incorporated subsidiary.

A Lloyds representative contacted by Paperjam declined to comment, saying “it is early days”.
