Zurich Eurolife has announced the appointment of Stephan Hersperger-Cremer as chief financial officer, effective 1 March 2026. He also joins the company’s executive committee.

Zurich Eurolife has appointed chief financial officer, Stephan Hersperger-Cremer, as of 1 March 2026. In this role, he joins the executive committee and reports to chief executive officer, Xavier NevezXavier Nevez, according to a company announcement made on 12 March. 

Stephan Hersperger-Cremer brings nearly 20 years of experience in finance and insurance. Prior to joining Zurich Eurolife, he served as chief financial officer at Baloise Luxembourg, where he oversaw all finance functions and held board mandates across several group investment and holding entities.

Earlier in his career, he spent eight years as head of investments at Baloise Germany, where he worked in strategic asset management. He began his professional career as a risk manager at Baloise Group in Basel and later held positions in portfolio strategy and asset-liability management at Helvetia Group.

In his new role, Stephan Hersperger-Cremer will lead Zurich Eurolife’s finance team, including actuarial and investment functions, and will contribute to the company’s financial strategy and management.

He holds a master’s degree in quantitative economics and finance from the University of St. Gallen and has completed further academic programmes at McGill University and the Helsinki School of Economics. He is also a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and financial risk manager (FRM).

He joins a team of around 40 employees

According to the company’s annual financial statements, Zurich Eurolife employed 42 people as of 31 December 2024, including members of the executive management team. 

The insurer reported a net profit of €7.0m for the 2024 financial year, compared with €6.8m in 2023. Gross written premiums reached €141.9m, mainly generated through group insurance contracts. 

Total assets stood at approximately €755.8m at the end of 2024, according to the financial statements of Zurich Eurolife.
