Georges Heinrich, secretary general at the Banque de Luxembourg, is joining Banque Raiffeisen’s management board, the bank shared on 18 January.

Heinrich’s appointment will take effect on 1 March 2023, when he will join Yves Biewer, the chairman of the board, as well as fellow board members Jean-Louis Barbier, Eric Preyer and Laurent Zahles, “to reinforce the bank’s executive board,” Raiffeisen said.

A trained economist, Heinrich worked as a researcher at the CEPS/Instead research centre after completing his PhD. He worked at the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance from 2001 to 2014, then joined the Banque de Luxembourg as a director. He became its secretary general in 2017.

“His academic background and professional experience, as well as his deep sense of human values, are undoubtedly assets for our Management Board and for the Bank as a whole,” said Biewer in a press statement, adding that “his experience and convictions in the field of sustainable and responsible finance are also a guarantee that Banque Raiffeisen will resolutely continue to implement its socially responsible strategy.”

Heinrich told Delano he was “looking forward to joining Raiffeisen and considers it a great professional challenge.”
