The finance ministry on Thursday nominated Maureen Wiwinius to become the president of the board of the Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA), Luxembourg’s insurance sector watchdog.

Wiwinius will succeed Isabelle Goubin starting 1 October. A Luxembourg national, Wiwinius started her career at financial sector watchdog CSSF in 2005, the finance ministry said in a press release.

In 2016, she joined the finance ministry as an advisor in financial services, financial stability and financial centre regulatory frameworks, specialising in investment funds and capital markets.

Wiwinius, who holds a degree from ICHEC Brussels Management School, currently also serves as the board president of the CSSF on a five-year mandate that expires at the end of June 2024.

There, too, she succeeded Goubin, who resigned from the board in 2019 for personal reasons after chairing it since 2014.

The CAA board includes five members, three of which are nominated by finance minister Pierre Gramenga (DP). The other two are nominated by the insurance industry and insurance policy holders.
