Luxembourg has the fourth longest retirement period among the world’s wealthier countries, according to the UK price comparison website Comparethemarket.com.
Workers in the grand duchy spend an average of 23.66 years in retirement. That places Luxembourg only behind France (24.8 years), Spain (24.15) and Greece (24.1).
made the calculations using 2018 data from the OECD, a policy forum for 34 relatively rich countries.
Among the other countries in the report, the Netherlands ranked 12th (21 years), Germany ranked 14th (20.8), the UK 17th (20.55), Ireland 18th (20.45), the US 27th (18.1) and South Korea 34th (14.6).
