One month after a previous strike by ground staff scrapped, Lufthansa is once again facing the discontentment of its workers. At the heart of the disagreement are salary adaptations for pilots. VC is demanding a pay rise of 5.5% for its pilots, and also wants automatic inflation compensation to be introduced. Conditions Lufthansa does not agree with.

“The employer attended yesterday's negotiation meeting, but did not take advantage of it to move towards the union's demands with an improved offer,” VC spokesperson Matthias Baier stated . “Therefore, our only option is to take industrial action to press our demands.”

The German airline has yet to respond to the strike. Delano contacted the company’s customer service, which was unable to confirm the impact of the strike on flights to and from Luxembourg. A customer service representative however said that while cancellations will only be confirmed a few hours ahead of flights, any cancellation would result in a free rebooking.

The European consumer center in Luxembourg on 1 September sent out a reminder that travelers who have seen their flights cancelled less than two weeks before take-off were eligible for compensation.

In Luxembourg, where similar dissatisfactions are noticed, an on 26 September between Luxair, trade unions representing airline staff and the government. The meeting will address increasing  at the national carrier.
