The Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative has appointed Lorenzo Avico as its deputy CEO, the association announced on Tuesday 4 June. In the press statement, the LSFI highlighted Avico’s extensive experience, noting that he joined the organisation in June 2024 with over 25 years of expertise in Luxembourg’s financial services. His previous roles include head of business development at BNP Paribas Asset Management in Luxembourg and head of sales at Eurizon Capital. He has also held positions as a portfolio manager at several banks, including Edmond de Rothschild and Intesa Sanpaolo.
In his new role, Avico will be responsible for organising and defining the activities of the LSFI, working closely with CEO 
Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Avico stated, “I am honoured to take on the role of deputy CEO at the LSFI. I have closely followed the work of this unique organisation since its foundation, and I am delighted to contribute to its mission. My extensive experience in the Luxembourg financial sector has made me very familiar with the challenges it faces, as well as its potential and unique features. Luxembourg hosts key sustainable finance initiatives and has a long track record of expertise in this domain. I am committed to supporting all our stakeholders, helping them overcome existing challenges while ensuring that we continue advancing the sustainable finance journey.”
The LSFI was established in January 2020 as a collaborative effort between the Luxembourg government--specifically the ministry of finance and the ministry of the environment, climate and biodiversity--Luxembourg for Finance, which is the agency responsible for the development of the financial centre, and the High Council for Sustainable Development. The LSFI aims to advance sustainable finance within the country. As an independent advisory body, it provides the Luxembourg government with guidance on sustainable development issues, effectively representing the interests of civil society.
