The Luxembourg minister for cooperation and humanitarian action was on the east coast for a two-day working visit.

was in New York on Monday and Tuesday to pay his first visit as a minister to the United Nations headquarters, and also to meet with representatives of the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ).

At the UN, Fayot met with representatives from several partner agencies of Luxembourg Cooperation, which invests 30% of the total official development assistance budget through multilateral agencies. The minister signed two new strategic partnership frameworks, firstly with Preeti Sinha, the new director of the United Nations Capital Development Fund, and with Achim Steiner, programme administrator of the United Nations Development Programme.

As gender is one of the new cross-cutting priorities of Luxembourg Cooperation, Fayot also met with Diene Keita, deputy executive director of the United Nations Population Fund, and Anita Bhatia, deputy executive director of UN Women.

He also had a meeting with Fernando Travesi, executive director of the ICTJ, during which a new agreement was signed to strengthen research in the field of transitional justice, particularly in Tunisia and Colombia.
