Further daily traffic jams are expected in Kirchberg. On Wednesday 29 April, the City of Luxembourg and Luxtram announced the start of the next phase of construction work on the new tram section in the business district. The highlight of this phase is the works on Konrad Adenauer Boulevard, which begin this Sunday 3 May, at 5am sharp, resulting in the boulevard becoming one-way from avenue John F. Kennedy (western end) towards rue Erasme.
Changes to traffic and public transport arrangements will come into effect this Sunday and will continue, “according to current forecasts”, until spring 2027. Lines 6, 16, 18, 21, 86 and 88 heading towards the city centre will be diverted via rue Erasme, rue Alcide de Gasperi and rue du Fort Niedergrünewald. The Jean Monnet Quai 2 and B.E.I. Quai 2 stops will be removed and replaced by the Léon Hengen Quai 2, Niedergrünewald Quai 2 and Philharmonie/Mudam Quai 2 stops. Buses 25, 81 and 82 towards Weimerskirch will be diverted via rue Erasme, rue Alcide de Gasperi and Rue Charles-Léon Hammes. The Jean Monnet Quai 2 stop will be removed and replaced by the Léon Hengen Quai 2 stop and a temporary Jean Monnet Quai 4 stop on rue Charles-Léon Hammes.
