“Today, a pet takes the place of a child,” says Jean-Stéphane Pouvreau, co-founder and CEO of startup Wizipet. The facts are clear: 57% of households worldwide own at least one pet, whilst around 40% of households have at least one child, illustrating just how important pets are on a global scale. For this former vet with 35 years of experience, it was time to offer a digital solution to match the affection that households have for their companions.
Launched eight months ago, Wizipet is a mobile application that allows users to centralise all their pet-related needs: weight monitoring, digital health log, encyclopaedia, personalised advice, etc. “It’s such a comprehensive application that everyone can find what they need in it,” stresses the vet-turned-entrepreneur.
Already part of the Luxembourg ecosystem thanks to the Luxembourg City Incubator, the startup is now aiming for a European or even global reach. To accelerate, Wizipet is banking on the integration of artificial intelligence. A chatbot should soon make its appearance, as well as the possibility of connecting objects such as smart collars capable of transmitting data in real time, without manual intervention by the owners.
Pouvreau also intends to take advantage of the Nexus tech conference to develop new partnerships and strengthen the presence of his application in Luxembourg. “Nexus is part of the process,” says the former vet.
With Wizipet, Pouvreau no longer just cares for animals: he also cares for the bond between owners and their companions. It’s a digital revolution that could well become the new standard in the animal world.
