Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg has officially announced the appointment of Sarah Khabirpour as a director, with a term of office running until the 2027 Annual General Meeting. This appointment comes as she has been serving as an independent director since 2021, following an executive career in the financial sector and public institutions.
In particular, she served as Chief Compliance Officer at Banque de Luxembourg between 2017 and July 2020, having previously held the position of Head of Strategy, Regulatory Affairs and MarCom at Banque Internationale à Luxembourg, where she was a member of the extended executive committee between 2014 and 2017.
Her career has also included roles within public institutions, notably as a government adviser and chief of staff at the Ministry of Finance. In this capacity, she sat on the board of directors of the Financial Sector Supervisory Commission (CSSF) as the State’s representative. She has also held several positions within key bodies of the financial centre, notably on the boards of directors of the Banque Internationale à Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, as well as at Luxembourg for Finance, where she was a member of the executive committee.
Since moving into non-executive roles, she has built up a portfolio of appointments as an independent director at banks and financial institutions across Europe. Her profile is characterised by a combination of expertise in regulation, financial supervision, banking strategy and governance, gained both in the public sector, working for the regulator, and within major financial institutions in the market.
