Luxembourg Open Air 2025 is changing setting and taking on a whole new dimension for its Season Closing Festival: this year, find the festival in the historic site of Metzeschmelz, between Esch-sur-Alzette and Schifflange, on 13-14 September 2025.

The Luxembourg Open Air (LOA) festival 2025 is moving to the Metzeschmelz industrial site for its autumn event on 13-14 September 2025. This former blast furnace, closed in 2012, will reopen its doors to host the country’s biggest electronic music festival. Slated to become urban district by developer Agora, this site--steeped in history--will first become an immersive electro village for one weekend.

The Metzeschmelz site started operations in 1871, marking the development of Luxembourg’s steel industry and the economic boom in Esch and Schifflange. This raw setting, between metal wastelands and monumental industrial structures, will offer festival-goers a unique visual and aural experience.

A whole second day

Big news this year: LOA by Post now extends over two days. From 1:00pm onwards on Saturday and Sunday, festival-goers will be able to enjoy several stages featuring international and local DJs, a Food Village, a Chill Out Area for relaxing between sets and entertainment stands and interactive experiences.

A festival committed to mobility and the environment

The organisation makes a point of limiting its environmental footprint and facilitating access to the site. In partnership with CFL and Tice, a transport system will be put in place to facilitate access for festival-goers. The event will also apply a zero plastic policy with reusable cups, while food trucks will have to comply with a total ban on disposable cutlery.

The Season Opening Festival

Meanwhile, the LOA Esch 2025 Season Opening Festival will take place on 9-10 May 2025 at the Place de l’Académie in Belval. This event marks the start of the festival season with an exceptional lineup.

This year’s headliners include global stars such as John Newman, Nervo, Topic, Toby Romeo, Jaxomy, Biscits, Matt Sassari, Kommando, Xenia and Luciid. Local artists performing at Belval will be announced at a later date.

Participants will be able to enjoy three dynamic stages: the Main Stage, the Techno Stage and the Rave Cave. In addition to the music, LOA Esch will be offering a variety of food stalls, as well as a Chill Out Area to relax in between sets. The festival also maintains a strong focus on sustainability, implementing a strict no-single-use-plastic policy. Reusable cups will be used in all bar areas and food vendors will be required to adhere to environmentally friendly guidelines.
