Elisabeth Hoffmann, who has been a historian at the Foundation since 2018, is to take up the post of museum director on Thursday 1 October. She will work alongside Frank Schroeder to ensure a smooth transition until he retires in March 2027.

The National Museum of the Resistance and Human Rights (MNRDH) is preparing for its leadership succession internally. Elisabeth Hoffmann has been unanimously appointed by the board of trustees of the National Museum of the Resistance and Human Rights Foundation, following a recruitment process. From this Thursday 1 October, she will co-lead the organisation alongside the current director, Frank Schroeder, who is due to retire on 1 March 2027.

The new director is already familiar with the workings of the museum. As a historian with the Foundation since 2018, she coordinated the new permanent exhibition and drafted its content alongside the team, a role that kept her busy until 2024. She also contributes to the museum’s temporary exhibitions and events. In 2023, she joined the management team as an assistant.

This change in leadership is also leading to some changes within the team. Jérôme Courtoy, who is currently head of the educational department, will succeed him as the museum’s historian.
