On Wednesday 25 October, Jean-Louis Zeien (chair of the NGO Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg) issued a certificate to the manager of Restopolis-Services, Monique Ludovicy.
To get this certificate, a food establishment must continuously propose products traded fairly. Fair-trade coffee is obligatory. The certificate is displayed in the establishment.
Restopolis, which operates 105 cafés and restaurants in the country, has collaborated with Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg since 2009. Most of them are cafeterias and canteens in schools, but it also includes the university canteens in Belval and “John’s” and “Altius” in Kirchberg, among others.
The network organises regular, themed fair-trade weeks under different slogans to familarise clients with fair-trade products and with the working conditions of the producers. Currently, the “Fairtrade” range at Restopolis includes products such as coffee, rice, tea, chocolate, bananas and pineapple.
