Easter holidays mean egg hunts. But it also means work on the CFL lines. The Easter holidays start this Saturday 28 March in Luxembourg and CFL will be taking advantage of this period, as usual and as announced at the beginning of the year, to carry out maintenance work, which will last until Sunday 12 April inclusive. The work will affect various sections of the following lines: the Luxembourg-Esch/Alzette-Rodange line, the Luxembourg-Ettelbruck-Troisvierges-Gouvy line and the Luxembourg-Kleinbettingen-Arlon line.

"Train traffic will be interrupted accordingly (...) during periods of lower passenger numbers (...). To guarantee continuity of travel for customers, CFL is providing a large number of replacement buses. Customers can also benefit from regular RGTR and TICE line buses in addition," explains the CFL press release, published on Tuesday 24 March.

15,6km of rails replaced

In detail, on the line Luxembourg-Esch/Alzette-Rodange: there will be no trains between Bettembourg and Esch/Alzette, between Rumelange and Noertzange and between Audun-le-Tiche and Esch/Alzette.

On the Luxembourg-Ettelbruck-Troisvierges-Gouvy line: there will be no trains between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck as well as between Luxembourg and Diekirch.

And on the Luxembourg-Kleinbettingen-Arlon line: there will be no trains between Luxembourg and Arlon.

After 25 years of service, the rails and sleepers between Bettembourg and Scheuerbusch will be renewed over a length of 7.8 kilometres. During the work, which will be carried out over the school holidays, a renewal train will be used to speed up the work, which involves replacing 15.6 kilometres of rail, 13,000 sleepers and 6,000 tonnes of ballast.
