In the heart of a particularly touristy region, Bistro Quai delights palates of all generations with regional cuisine featuring quality seasonal produce. The restaurant offers a unique experience in both summer and winter, thanks to its original ephemeral concepts.

Located on the banks of the Moselle, on the wine route, Bistro Quai's glassed-in pavilion and terrace were originally designed as a tasting room for tourists. Five years ago, the Bistro Quai restaurant was added. Today, the wines and crémants produced by neighbours Bernard Massard and Domaine Vinsmoselle continue to be served. The restaurant, run by chef Joël Schaeffer, is a must for a day out in the Moselle metropolis, after a stroll through the vineyards or a trip on the Marie-Astrid moored nearby.

To delight as many people as possible, Bistro Quai offers ephemeral concepts depending on the season. In winter, lovers of tasty, gourmet dishes can discover a very special atmosphere in the chalet adjoining the restaurant. This space, like the rest of the site, can be made private on request.

In summer, the chalet gives way to a lounge terrace that complements the existing outdoor areas, where you can enjoy a snack in the afternoon. The Bistro Quai beach on the banks of the Moselle will be a delight for families. Summer cocktails, ice creams, music, deckchairs, the atmosphere is festive and musical thanks to the presence of DJs.

Comforting local cuisine

Joël Schaeffer, who ran his own restaurant for many years, is keen to focus on quality regional and seasonal produce. On the plate, he gives pride of place to local cuisine, offering a number of traditional dishes that are particularly popular with young and old alike. Moselle fried fish, half-chicken on the spit with winter vegetables and pommes grenailles, and Feierstengszalot are just some of the highlights. We also highly recommend the Angus beef tournedos, which melts in the mouth and is served with a parsnip mousseline and a light truffle sauce!

The chef never hesitates to add a Provençal touch to these local products, as well as a healthy dose of modernity through the addition of spices, for example, and the imagination of his team. The menu, which changes several times a year, includes several signature dishes such as beef cheek, pig's trotter carpaccio and beef tagliata. The creamy Jerusalem artichoke, pickled Shimeji mushrooms and Japanese rice is a perfect example of this approach. The chef combines Jerusalem artichokes, a root found in our regions, with Asian flavours. It's a particularly bold and generous combination!

While gourmets will be tempted by the Q menu at €44, with a choice of amuse-bouche, starters, main courses and desserts, the contents of which change every month, those in a hurry can opt for the daily menu at around €20, with a choice of two starters, three main courses and two desserts. We are tempted by the Tafelspitz (beef) with homemade gnocchi and vegetable ragout.

In the chalet, fondue in all its forms (cheese or Burgundy) takes pride of place during the winter season and is enjoyed with a signature cocktail such as the Winter Spritz or the Nippon Quai. Once again, the emphasis is on quality products, with protected origin cheeses.

Held once a month, the Sunday brunch (€49) also moves to the terrace in summer, with a programme of barbecues, guests and themed events.

Gift vouchers open the door to a gourmet exploration of the menu.
