Life is uncertain and medical emergencies can arise suddenly. This might require calling the all-around emergency hotline 112 to get assistance.

But before you call, make sure that the medical emergency requires a police and/or paramedic help. For non-critical but still requiring police assistance, call 113 instead. The emergency operator will ask questions relevant to the situation, so try to answer calmly and clearly, and decide an ambulance is necessary. In case of fire or other life-threatening situation, call 112.

All hospitals have a walk-in emergency, so in case you do not need police or ambulance, and can reach the hospital without additional risks, you can go directly.

If you don’t have a medical emergency but need urgent care outside your regular GP’s hours, visit one of the three “Maisons Médicales de garde” weekdays 8pm-12am and weekends/holidays 8am-12am, or call 20 333 111. The on-call doctor may conduct a home visit if necessary. After midnight, call 112.
