Finance minister Yuriko Backes (DP) has tested positive for covid-19 following a PCR test, the government’s press and information service announced on Tuesday morning.

The minister, who assumed the finance portfolio in January, immediately self-isolated.

Backes has undergone a vaccination regimen and will continue to carry out her tasks and duties via teleworking, the statement says.

Last week foreign minister Jean Asselborn (LSAP) tested positive, which meant he could not attend the meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday.
