The CSSF is launching eRegister by eDesk, a new portal for accessing public data. Its first feature enables professionals to access the identification details of funds, sub-funds and sub-portfolios via an API.

The Financial Sector Supervisory Commission (CSSF) announced, on 1 September, the launch of eRegister by eDesk, a new centralised portal designed to make it easier to access the public data it provides.

The first feature relates to the fund sector. Professionals can access identification data for funds, sub-funds and sub-portfolios via an API (Application Programming Interface), a computer interface that enables their software to query a service and automatically receive data from it.

Minimising manual processing

Until now, the CSSF had already made fund identification data available via its online resources. The new feature is that this data can now be accessed via an API, which enables professionals to automate the retrieval of this data and integrate it directly into their own systems, thereby reducing the need for manual searches and processing.

Whilst the information in question is public, access to the API remains subject to the prior signing of an agreement with the CSSF. Any individual or legal entity wishing to use the service must complete this process. The technical specifications and details of the data will be provided once the agreement has been signed.

In February, the CSSF had, in particular, initiated the procedure in eDesk enabling financial firms to submit their annual Dora-related information register. With eRegister, the platform already used for regulatory reporting is now being enhanced with a tool designed for accessing public data.
