Proximus NXT Luxembourg has integrated Microsoft’s Azure Local Disconnected Operations (Aldo) into its portfolio of sovereign cloud solutions, as demand grows from Luxembourg-based companies and institutions for greater control over data, operations and regulatory compliance.

The company announced on 20 May 2026 that Aldo would allow organisations to operate cloud environments autonomously, including without a connection to the public cloud when necessary.

Sovereign cloud push

Proximus NXT stated that Aldo was designed for organisations that must maintain critical services locally while still benefiting from the Azure ecosystem. The company said the solution supports a sovereign cloud model by combining local control, enhanced security and operational continuity, including in disconnected environments.

Gérard Hoffmann, chief executive officer of Proximus NXT Luxembourg, stated that Aldo expands the company’s existing multi-cloud and sovereign strategy, which already includes Clarence and U-flex in Luxembourg. He added that clients were seeking to combine technological innovation, operational continuity and data sovereignty.

Local expertise

Proximus NXT Luxembourg participated in the Aldo Private Preview programme, working with Microsoft teams to develop operational expertise in disconnected environments and validate use cases within its local sovereign infrastructure.

The company also took part in the Private Preview programme of M365 Local, which it said showed the potential of such workloads for strategic use cases requiring high levels of sovereignty and control.

Marijke Schroos, general manager of Microsoft Belgium and Luxembourg, stated that the collaboration reflected a shared commitment to sovereignty and resilience. She added that Azure Local disconnected operations and Microsoft 365 Local were intended to support regulated or isolated environments while allowing organisations to retain operational control over data and operations.
