On 22 September, the Paperjam Club brought together four CFOs from different sectors for a panel discussion at EY Luxembourg. The aim of the discussion was to compare experiences regarding the new trade-offs CFOs face between investment, transformation, performance and value creation in an increasingly challenging environment.

The conference “How CFOs Are Steering Growth and Transformation in an Uncertain World” focused on the evolving role of the CFO. Faced with economic uncertainties, technological change and an increasingly demanding regulatory environment, the finance function is no longer limited to managing performance: it plays a direct role in the decisions that shape the future of the organisation.

During the panel discussion, Florent AlbertFlorent Albert (Edmond de Rothschild – Europe) Lisa PatakiLisa Pataki (SES), Maria JoãoMaria João (Monnett Social) and Maxim StrausMaxim Straus (Cargolux Airlines International) shared their insights into the realities of different sectors, company sizes and business models. Moderated by Nicolas BannierNicolas Bannier, COO of EY Luxembourg, the discussion centred on the trade-offs CFOs face when investing in technology, AI, talent or transformation whilst meeting short-term performance requirements. The discussion then placed these issues within the Luxembourg context, considering factors such as costs, regulation, attractiveness and competitiveness.

The evening continued with a networking cocktail reception attended by more than 120 decision-makers and finance professionals.

Paperjam would like to extend its warmest thanks to EY Luxembourg and Finologee (Lead Partners), as well as Polestar (Key Partner), for their support and contribution to this first edition of the CFO Panel.
