HLD, a European investment group with a significant presence in Luxembourg, announced on Tuesday 19 May the appointment of Nicolas Robin as a partner. This is a significant appointment for the firm, which was founded in 2010 and has been involved in a series of transactions since the start of the year, clearly demonstrating its ambitions in the European private equity market.

Aged 45 and a graduate of EM Lyon, Nicolas Robin joins from Five Arrows, the investment platform of Rothschild & Co, which he helped launch back in 2008. Over nearly 20 years, he has overseen numerous transactions in business services, software, data and industry, both in Europe and the United States. For HLD, this appointment marks a phase of accelerated growth. Its portfolio now comprises 22 companies, representing more than €10bn in combined turnover and nearly 100,000 employees.

With this appointment, HLD brings the number of its partners to eight and continues to build its European partnership network from its offices in Luxembourg, France, the Netherlands and Italy, which employ around 40 staff. This is a further sign of the group’s European ambition, extending beyond its base in Luxembourg.
