The CFL and the National Roads Administration (Administration des ponts et chaussées) on Wednesday 16 April announced the opening of a new P+R car park next to the airport, following roughly six months of work. It will open at 4.15am on 28 April and provide 481 parking spaces, including 11 reserved for people with reduced mobility. This is an additional service, as finding a parking space at Findel has not always been easy in recent months. Although the lot is not covered, it will provide cyclists with a secure place to park their two-wheeled vehicles, with a 32-space bikebox on site. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
There will be two pricing options. Users will be entitled to free parking if they meet two conditions. First, the parking period must not exceed 24 hours. Second, users must go further than 1.5 km from the car park. A similar system is . To benefit, you need to enter the car park and check in via the CFL application. After you leave and take public transport out of the zone, the free parking procedure is automatically launched. As soon as users leave the 1.5 km perimeter around the car park, they will receive a notification on their smartphone that their car’s licence plate has been granted free parking. “If the application is not open on your smartphone, you will need to open it briefly once you are about 1.5 km from the car park, and until you get the notification. Similarly, at the entrance, you will first need to confirm your check-in at the P+R. A notification will remind you five minutes after you enter the P+R in the event that this check-in has not yet been completed,” the CFL .
On the other hand, if users park their car at the P+R, then go to the airport or to nearby offices (which are less than 1.5km from the car park), they will have to pay for their parking--and this will be “at a higher rate than the Kiss&Fly car park at Findel airport.” As a reminder, the Kiss&Fly car park charges the following rates: free for less than 15 minutes, then €2.70 per quarter of an hour. For a full day, the rate as detailed on the Lux-Airport website is €71.40 (then €71.40 per additional day); or €274.80 for a week (then €274.80 per additional week).
As a reminder, several other car parks are accessible at Findel, including Car Park E, at €1.60 per quarter of an hour, which is therefore currently the cheapest available to users.
“The P+R aims to absorb traffic flows from the A1 motorway and the east of Luxembourg City, by offering via the ‘P+R CFL’ application, a free parking solution for public transport users, in order to encourage intermodality for journeys in relation to Luxembourg City. The P+R benefits from direct access to the ‘Héienhaff P+R’ tram stop as well as the Senningerberg Héienhaff bus stop,” the CFL and the National Roads Administration detailed in their press release issued on 16 April 2025.
