Launched on 12 June, the 26th edition of Music Day is entering its second week, with several major events still on the programme. Until 21 June, professional and amateur artists, up-and-coming talent, brass bands, choirs, DJs and bands from all walks of life will continue to take to the streets, squares, parks and cultural centres across the country.
Kirchberg takes over in the capital
Following the festivities in Luxembourg city centre, the music continues in Kirchberg from 17 to 21 June. A number of events are scheduled to take place between the central square in Grünewald, Kirchberg-Kiem and the Rehazenter.
The festival kicks off on 17 June with Kiss-O, Cosmic Clic and Gaby and Uncles. The following day, the line-up will blend indie rock, dance and blues with DJ Suske&Wiske, a Swing Dance Taster and Duke Box. On 19 June, electro artist CHIQA will share the bill with the traditional European music group Zaltimband.
On 20 June, Kirchberg-Kiem will host, among other things, an introductory Zumba session, Kapela Janiszewskich, the Fanfares des Faubourgs, Mono Jazz and Forecast. The following day, the One Shot project will bring together artists Josh Island, Pedro Cardoso, Pedro Gonzales, Nadja Pranga and Achal Murthy at the Rehazenter for a musical performance organised by the EME Foundation, bringing patients and artists together.
Also on 20 June, Eich will join in the festivities with a day of concerts at Laval Park. The programme will bring together classical music, electronic music, world music, multidisciplinary performances and events aimed at young audiences.
Dudelange, the heart of the festivities
The highlight of this final phase of the programme, however, will take place in Dudelange. On 20 June, the town will be transformed into a veritable open-air festival, with 14 stages and venues spread across the town centre and Émile Mayrisch Park.
The Main Stage, set up in the town hall square, will feature performances by Josh Island, Jack and the Weatherman, Irish singer Gavin James and reggae artist Patrice. At 11.55pm, a surprise artist, whose identity has not yet been revealed, will take to the stage to bring the evening to a close.
Alongside these headliners, more than 60 national and international artists will take to the festival’s various stages. They include Amistat, Ninon, Crimson Bloom, Rome, Hunneg-Strëpp, Zero Point Five, Hands on Mars, Kevin Heinen, Amzel and Newo & Mémoires de Moi.
Blues fans can head to the Blues Stage to see Empty Arms Blues Band, Thunder Road and Carl Wyatt & The Delta Voodoo Kings, whilst the Living Tomorrow Stage will showcase electronic sounds. The Why Not Stage, meanwhile, will feature a more rock-oriented line-up, including Breaking Out, Fallen Lies, Blame The Others, Myura, Dontnod and Rome.
The festivities in Dudelange will begin on 19 June with a pre-festival event at 8pm at Saint-Martin’s Church, bringing together the Friends of the Dudelange Organ and pupils from the Regional Music School.

Concerts across the country
20 June will also see a surge in activity in several other towns. In Mersch, Place Saint-Michel, also known as Méchelsplaz, will host two days of concerts featuring brass bands, electronic music, folk, indie rock and hard rock. In Esch-sur-Alzette, Bâtiment 4 will showcase world music, whilst in Ell, the programme will shift from family-friendly acts to hard rock and metal as the day progresses.
In Remich, a series of concerts will take place at Place Dr Fernand Kons and Um Gréin, featuring a line-up of brass bands, orchestras and pop groups. Further events are also planned in Mamer, Walferdange and Junglinster.
21 June: ending on a musical note
On 21 June, the official date of Music Day, several towns will host the final major events of this year’s festival. In Kayl-Tétange, the Brill car park will take on a rock and indie rock vibe with Eternal Tango, Francis of Delirium and No Metal In This Battle, three well-known names on the Luxembourg alternative scene.
In Remich, the concerts will continue from the afternoon into the evening, featuring pop, folk, blues, contemporary music and performances by music schools. Junglinster will be focusing on brass bands and orchestras in Gonderange, whilst Ell will keep the party going with a hard rock and metal vibe.
