Luxembourg-founded Alter Domus has agreed to acquire MSC Group in a deal covering AU$34bn in assets under appointment, adding licensed trustee, custody and fund administration capabilities in Australia.

Alter Domus has agreed to acquire MSC Group, expanding its service offering in Australia with specialist private credit and alternative assets servicing across trusteeship, custody and fund administration.

The deal strengthens the international footprint of Alter Domus, a Luxembourg-headquartered provider of fund administration, private debt and corporate services for the alternative investment industry. Founded in the Grand Duchy in 2003, the group has more than 6,500 employees across 39 offices globally.

The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to regulatory approvals.

MSC brings licensed services

MSC Group, founded in 2012, provides trustee, custody, financial intermediary and fund administration services. It operates offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Alter Domus stated that the acquisition would add licensed trustee, custody and debt capital markets services to its fund administration offering in Australia and selected APAC markets.

Babloo Sarin, Global Head of Client Delivery and APAC for Alter Domus, stated that the deal would add licensed capabilities in Australia and key APAC areas to serve demand from private credit and alternative asset clients.

Matthew Fletcher, Founder and Group Managing Director of MSC Group, noted that joining Alter Domus’ global platform would bring increased resources, technology investment and expanded capabilities to its clients.

The combined Alter Domus and MSC Group team will provide an Australian platform covering institutional-grade infrastructure and specialist expertise, the companies stated.
