To reduce the bacterial load in infected wounds, particularly diabetic foot ulcers. This is the problem being tackled by Azyro, a Luxembourg-based company honoured on Wednesday 30 September at Healthcare Week Luxembourg. It won the Luxembourg Healthtech Adoption Award from a shortlist of 15 exhibitors competing for the event’s three prizes.
Its device generates magnetic fields, which are used in conjunction with antiseptics. According to the press release, this combination destroys the biofilm and enhances the action of the antiseptics. The result therefore depends on the combined use of both, a point highlighted in the presentation of the technology.
Two Belgian companies round off the list of winners. Kando has won the Europe Healthtech Adoption Award with a platform that connects healthcare, technical and communication systems within care homes without requiring them to replace their existing tools. Accessible via smartphone, tablet and computer, it integrates with the Kando Box to coordinate care and daily activities.
