On Thursday 9 July, the city of Luxembourg was transformed into a playground for an evening of discovery, socialising and fun, as part of the latest edition of the Spuerkeess x Paperjam Expat City Rally, which attracted several hundred participants.

Organised by Paperjam, the event brought together newly arrived expats, long-standing international residents and Luxembourgers, all united by a common goal: to explore the capital whilst expanding their personal and professional networks.

Armed with the dedicated app, the teams set off across the city, moving from one partner hotspot to the next. Along the way, they tackled interactive challenges, answered quizzes and racked up points, all in a festive atmosphere filled with entertainment, music, food trucks and bustling outdoor cafés.

Much more than just a treasure hunt, the rally has once again shown that networking can be fun, accessible and a unifying experience. By combining team spirit, exploration and friendly competition, participants had plenty of opportunities to meet new people and see Luxembourg in a different light.

For Thorunn EgilsdottirThorunn Egilsdottir, a representative of Spuerkeess, says the main aim is to help new arrivals forge a genuine connection with their host country: “Expatriates don’t really know this magnificent city yet. We want them to be proud of their new country, their new home, and to give them a better understanding of what they can expect from this country.”

The evening continued with the after-party, during which the participants gathered to celebrate the winning teams at the official awards ceremony. One of the highlights was the presentation of the grand prize (a seven-night stay in Fuerteventura, Spain, including flights, courtesy of Luxair). The teams with the highest scores received their prizes before the festivities continued to the beat of DJ sets, in an atmosphere that remained lively until late into the evening.

Paperjam would like to extend its warmest thanks to all the partners who contributed to the success of this year’s event: Spuerkeess, Alleyesonme.jobs, Athlon Luxembourg, Raiffeisen Bank, Eltrona, Foyer Assurances, Kichechef, Luxlait, Luxair, the Ministry for Family, Solidarity, Community Life and Integration, My Ways and Orange. Thanks to their commitment, the centre in Luxembourg has once again been transformed into a space for discovery, meeting people and sharing experiences.
