The “Concours Vinalies Internationales” welcomed 130 wine experts to Paris to blind taste over 3,000 wines from around the world for quality.

A handful of winemakers from the Luxembourg Moselle, with its 1,300 hectares of vines, received the ultimate compliment receiving medals for their 2015 and 2016 vintages.

“This success reinforces the slogan ‘Luxembourg, a small country with big wines’ and proves that the quality of wines produced in the Moselle can compete with international wines,” the viticulture ministry wrote in a press release published on Wednesday.

Gold medals were awarded to:

• Rouseman 2016, pinot gris, Domaine Viticole Kohll-Leuck;
• Fels “signature” 2016, pinot gris, Cepd’or.

Silver medals were awarded to:

• Crémant de Luxemourg, Domaine Viticole Beck-Frank;
• Coteaux de Schengen 2016 gewürztraminer-vin de paille, Domaine Henri Ruppert;
• Coteaux de Schengen 2016 riesling-vin de glace, Domaine Henri Ruppert;
• Coteaux de Schengen 2016 riesling quartz, Domaine Henri Ruppert;
• Coteaux de Schengen 2016 pinot gris Wintrange Felsberg, Domaine Henri Ruppert;
• Symphonie en bulles 2015, chardonny, pinot blanc and riesling, Schlink Domaine Viticole;
• Grand Premier Cru Mertert Rosenberg 2016, pinot gris, Domaines Vinsmoselle;
• Grand Premier Cru Machtum Hohfels 2016, pinot blanc, Domaines Vinsmoselle ;
• Coteaux de Schengen Symbiose pinot gris, chardonnay, pinot blanc, Domaine Viticole Kohll-Leuck;
• Wousselt 2016, riesling, Domaine Viticole Kohll-Leuck.
