“The date corresponds to the release of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, which will be the first film shown with this technology,” Christophe Eyssartier, Kinepolis national theatre manager, told our sister site, Paperjam.
“The audience will be on seats that move, with effects of wind, scents, light or rain in the room.”
The 4DX experience will cost visitors an extra €6, on top of the normal ticket price, currently at €10 for an adult.
4DX technology was developed by South Korean company CJ 4DPLEX, first introduced in 2009 for the Seoul release of “Journey go the Center of the Earth”. The technology is currently present on screens in around 60 countries.
The Kinepolis group, which bought Utopia in 2015, posted a 2015 turnover of €507.7m.
