Activities
Drift serenely along the river, take in the picturesque vineyards, soak in the sun and enjoy a buffet brunch--you can do all this on the in Remich, which also gives you an up-close look into how canal locks work! The four-hour trip, which costs €79 per adult (without drinks), ferries you up and down the Moselle River and includes a meat and fish buffet, along with dessert. (As an aside, I had never seen a lock in action, and now I have--no need to go to the Panama Canal to see these engineering marvels). LL
For foodies
Hong Kong House, next to the Wallis bus stop and not very far from the Gare, has an excellent lunch deal: €14.50 for appetizer and main dish at lunchtime during the week. I recommend the spicy beef for the main dish. Generous portions; I was satisfied for the rest of the day. LL

Located next door to a hair spa, Market By Jérémy on 4a Avenue de La Liberté is the perfect retreat from the chaos of everyday life. Bask in the sun on their terrace with a cup of ethically-sourced coffee or sit inside and marvel at their cosy interior design. The café’s friendly staff serve 100% vegan food, including a selection of wholesome salads and carefully crafted cakes. Their freshly baked cinnamon buns, supplied courtesy of Glow, are simply to die for. YY
A perfectly enjoyable lunch or dinner spot in the Gare district is (5 rue Glesener). It features an ever-changing menu of seasonal, authentic and nicely prepared Italian cuisine. Great wine list. Book ahead to be sure you get a table on the terrace. AG
I walk past the Chiche! in Bonnevoie every morning on my way to work, but I’ve just only tried it this past week. Would highly recommend the vegetarian fatteh (€16 at the time of writing), which consists of fried eggplant and chickpeas in a yogurt-tahini sauce. The pomegranate seeds add a delightful, juicy, crunchy little touch. Also on the menu are falafel, shawarma, kefta, shakshuka, meat skewers and Ukrainian dumplings. LL

Random observations
A mural featuring a rabbit, a pigeon and a squirrel was spotted in a narrow street between the Gare Rocade and Cactus. LL
