Étienne Schneider married Jérôme Domange in Luxembourg City on Wednesday morning.
Schneider made the announcement on his Facebook page a short time later: “The marriage was done discretely… the party will follow next year!”
Schneider has been deputy prime minister, economy minister, defense minister and interior minister since 2013. He was economy minister between 2012 and 2013. Previously he was a senior civil servant in the economy ministry, secretary general of the LSAP parliamentary bloc, and council member in Kayl.
They have been a couple publically for the past two years or so.
In an interview with Delano published in February 2013, Schneider said his packed work schedule had long kept him single: “I’m not blaming anybody but I can just tell you there is no private life. And if there would be, it would be in the newspapers. It would be a scandal!”
The ceremony was presided by Schneider’s fellow LSAP politician, Marc Angel, an MP and member of the capital’s city council.
