This episode reflects on the evolution of art collecting, moving from historical frameworks to contemporary practices. It highlights the growing importance of ethical collecting, community engagement, and greater transparency within the art ecosystem.

Art Talk Rewind is a podcast series presented by Luxembourg Art Week, revisiting the talks held during the fair. Partners and their guests explore the key questions shaping contemporary creation and the art market.

The art market can sometimes appear opaque, even hermetic. Built on speculation and risk, it exposes both gallerists and artists to significant financial pressure. While some established artists achieve strong market visibility and valuation, emerging artists often navigate precarious career paths marked by instability and limited income.

New models are emerging that seek to sustain artistic practice while improving the circulation of artworks at lower cost. These include the development of art editions and the expansion of digital platforms that enable more direct engagement between artists and audiences.

In parallel to their exhibition €AT, presented at Casino Luxembourg during the fair, the curators and founders of the innovative CAT platform propose approaches aimed at making art more accessible and inclusive, with a particular emphasis on prioritising living artists and supporting sustainable creative careers.

During the talk, Nora Cristea and Vincent Schneider discuss contemporary challenges related to the visibility and dissemination of art, placing the artist at the centre of their approach.

Their curatorial practice focuses on supporting artists through studio visits, mentoring, portfolios, publications, and curatorial projects. Through the CAT platform, they aim to simplify access to the art market for collectors. The initiative offers the opportunity to directly support artists through the purchase of editions, allowing audiences to integrate art into everyday living spaces.

Biographies

Nora Cristea’s work focuses on presenting artistic positions—in the form of monographs, portfolio works, and websites—as well as through her roles as a lecturer and mentor in the field of cultural education. Some of the publications she has designed are on display in Casino Luxembourg’s bookshop.

While working in blue-chip galleries, Vincent Schneider volunteered as a co-curator for a non-profit artist-run space in Cologne, where he supported numerous artists in realizing their first solo exhibitions. He currently works primarily as a designer for the entertainment industry and on his own exhibition projects.

The 12th edition of Luxembourg Art Week will take place from November 20 to 22, 2026.
