A new twist at the University of Luxembourg, in connection with the case involving allegations of psychological harassment and concerns about the administration’s failure to act which has been rocking the institution for several months. The university’s vice-chancellor, Jens Kreisel, has appointed professor André Prüm as acting dean with effect from 1 June, the University announced on Wednesday 13 May.
This appointment follows Professor Katalin Ligeti’s resignation from her post as Dean at the end of April and will take effect on 31 May. Dean since 2017, Ms Ligeti had resigned before the official end of her second term next year, “following allegations of mismanagement and harassment within her department”, as reported at the time by several Luxembourg media outlets.
Professor Prüm, a professor of law and holder of the Chair of Financial and Business Law, previously served as Dean of the Faculty from 2005 to 2012. “He will ensure the smooth running of the faculty to guarantee the continuity of its activities with complete confidence, and will organise the electoral process in a collegial and constructive manner with a view to appointing a dean in autumn 2026,” assures the University, for whom “this transition phase will enable the faculty to approach this period with a focus on renewing its governance and preparing the next stages of its development in the interests of the faculty and the University”, without mentioning the turbulence it has been experiencing for several months.
