Many have already put together an AI agent in an hour. Few know what separates that prototype from a tool trusted to actually handle client data. In finance and insurance alike, a Luxembourg founder draws the real line.

A customer calls his broker to change an address. He hangs up without realising that he has been paying for three years for a cover he doesn’t need, and that he is missing another one that he will need tomorrow.

Most business opportunities slip by unnoticed; nobody realises they’ve passed them by.

This sort of disconnect is costly for an entire profession whose sales staff manage their portfolios well but struggle to sell new products: they are breeders, not hunters. An AI agent changes this scenario: it matches the customer profile with the available products in real time and prepares a proposal before the sales representative has even thought of it.

The financial sector accounts for around 30 per cent of Luxembourg’s GDP, and part of this workload is invisible: a client is never checked just once. Their file is reviewed periodically, their presence on sanctions lists or lists of politically exposed persons is monitored continuously, and any change in status triggers a new check. An AI agent takes on this workload: it collects the missing documents, cross-checks identities against sanctions databases, and only flags files with genuine compliance issues to an analyst.

Claude, ChatGPT and no-code tools such as n8n make it possible to put together an initial bot in a matter of hours: an excellent starting point, a genuine full-scale proof of concept. But as soon as a bot deals with customer data or compliance issues, the question is no longer whether it can be built, but who is responsible for it.

You don’t cobble together an agent who handles a client’s data in the same way you’d cobble together a LinkedIn post.

An employee who is not properly managed becomes a legal risk, not a time-saver.

However, Claude and ChatGPT are American, as are most models by default. Building an entire AI strategy around a single foreign provider creates total dependency: a change in terms and conditions or a political decision is enough to undermine a tool that has become critical. Luxembourg has anticipated this risk by entering into an official partnership with Mistral, the European AI platform. Building an agent on Mistral – hosted in Europe and, if necessary, on-premises – eliminates this dependency, a decisive advantage for a highly regulated bank or insurer.

Fancy seeing what an AI agent looks like in action? Nine short scenarios – ranging from voice chatbots to information assistants – are freely available to give you an initial, practical idea: agents.teamia.ai

Artificial intelligence is not an end in itself, but a means to address a clearly identified business challenge. This conviction stems from 25 years in senior management, prior to founding TeamIA, a Luxembourg-based agency specialising in business-specific AI agents. Its founder, Christian Michel, who holds an MBA from HEC Paris and three MIT certifications, sums it up as follows: “A good AI agent goes unnoticed; it makes the problem disappear.” TeamIA is Luxinnovation Fit 4 AI-accredited and eligible for the SME Package AI, which enables Luxembourg-based SMEs to co-fund their artificial intelligence projects.
