Holder of a PhD in Law from the University of Paris II, Françoise Thoma began her career between 1994 and 1998 as a lawyer at Bonn&Schmitt before working as a legal adviser at the Court of Justice of the European Union. She joined Spuerkeess in 1999, working in the legal department. In 2004, she was appointed Secretary-General and in 2009, she became the first woman to join the management committee. In June 2016, she succeeded Jean-Claude Finck as the CEO. She was also a member of the Council of State from 2000 to 2015 and ended her term as the Vice President of the institution.
