Carlo Thelen joined the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in 1996 as an Economic Adviser. 

In 2003, he joined the Executive Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and in 2004, became Director of International Affairs. In 2014 he was nominated CEO, Director General.

Until 2019, he was also the Chief Economist of the Chamber of Commerce, each year preparing and presenting the opinion of the Chamber of Commerce on the state budget. Carlo Thelen is also the author of a notable expert blog that highlights current important socio-economic questions, as well as articles published by the Chamber of Commerce. He also represents the Chamber of Commerce in different working groups and councils in Luxembourg institutions and organisations. In addition to his economic expertise, Carlo Thelen has extensive experience in commercial and economic advocacy and participates in economic missions abroad where he promotes the economy and businesses of the Grand Duchy.

Jusqu'en 2019, il a également été l'économiste en chef de la Chambre de commerce, préparant et présentant chaque année l'avis de la Chambre de commerce sur le budget de l'État. Carlo Thelen est également l'auteur d'un blog d'experts notable qui met en lumière les questions socio-économiques importantes du moment, ainsi que d'articles publiés par la Chambre de commerce. Il représente également la Chambre de Commerce dans différents groupes de travail et conseils au sein des institutions et organisations luxembourgeoises. En plus de son expertise économique, Carlo Thelen a une grande expérience en matière de plaidoyer commercial et économique et participe à des missions économiques à l'étranger où il promeut l'économie et les entreprises du Grand-Duché.

Carlo Thelen kam 1996 als Wirtschaftsberater zur Handelskammer Luxemburg. 

Im Jahr 2003 wurde er Mitglied des Exekutivausschusses der Handelskammer und 2004 Direktor für internationale Angelegenheiten. Im Jahr 2014 wurde er zum CEO, Generaldirektor, ernannt.

Bis 2019 war er auch Chefvolkswirt der Handelskammer und hat jedes Jahr die Stellungnahme der Handelskammer zum Staatshaushalt vorbereitet und vorgelegt. Carlo Thelen ist auch Autor eines namhaften Expertenblogs, der aktuelle wichtige sozioökonomische Fragen beleuchtet, sowie von Artikeln, die von der Handelskammer veröffentlicht werden. Außerdem vertritt er die Handelskammer in verschiedenen Arbeitsgruppen und Beiräten luxemburgischer Institutionen und Organisationen. Neben seinem wirtschaftlichen Fachwissen verfügt Carlo Thelen über umfangreiche Erfahrungen in der kommerziellen und wirtschaftlichen Interessenvertretung und nimmt an Wirtschaftsmissionen im Ausland teil, wo er für die Wirtschaft und die Unternehmen des Großherzogtums wirbt.
