This weekend, it’s all about creativity and nature in Luxembourg, from the Centrale Créative designer market to the Kass-Haff Fest country festival to the opening of the Konscht am Gronn art season. Plenty to do for kids and adults alike: read on for our guide.

1. Centrale Créative: Minett Park’s designer market. To kick off the 2025 season, Minett Park is launching the second edition of its designer market under a new name: “Centrale Créative.” Inspired by the industrial past of the Paul Wurth Hall, the day will showcase local talent through craft stalls, live concerts and steam and mining train rides. The atmosphere promises to be festive, with on-site catering and activities for all ages.

2. Konscht am Gronn: art under the open sky in the Grund. The 2025 season of the “Konscht am Gronn” art market opens this Sunday in the enchanting setting of the Grund. On the Münster Street Bridge, around 20 artists will be exhibiting paintings, sculptures, photographs and handicrafts. A free concert is planned at 2pm to liven up the walk. The Naturmusée will also be offering free admission to visitors to the event.

3. Kass-Haff Fest: a festive day in the heart of nature. The Kass-Haff educational farm is organising its annual festival, combining a “Bio-Second-Hand” market, artistic events, children’s shows, community stands and encounters with the animals. It’s fun for all the family, with 100% organic catering on site.

4. Gambling on Your Self [sic]: a performance by Flora Mar. As part of the “Portraits of the Self” exhibition, artist Flora Mar offers a singular format with her performance “Gambling on Your Self.” Through a series of 13 illustrated game boards, each participant is invited to engage in a direct verbal encounter with the artist. This tête-à-tête, without spectators, becomes a space for introspective play, where speaking and listening open the way to a profound exploration of identity.

5. Glimpses beyond the Wimmelbuch: an animated dive into the world of Rotondes. Through this digital animation, Viktoria Mladenovski brings to life some of the details and characters from her book for the Rotondes.

6. Beyond the Frame: Rethinking Photography. As part of the European Month of Photography, seven artists explore the new frontiers of the image in this exhibit at the Nationalmusée. Abstraction, light, materiality and innovative techniques--it’s a captivating dive into experimental photography.

7. Déifferdenger Kiermes: Differdange’s funfair for young and old. Games, music, rides and convivial meals are on the programme for the Déifferdenger Kiermes, to be held at the Hauts-Fourneaux car park. Festive fun for the whole family (and with a discount day planned for Tuesday, 6 May).

8. Visit the Bock Casemates. Take a journey beneath the old fortress and discover the famous casemates, listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site. This fascinating underground labyrinth is punctuated by openings offering spectacular views of the old town.

9. Vanitas, Vanitatum. The Rainbow Center is hosting the hard-hitting exhibition of French photographer Romain Berger, which explores themes of identity, desire and superficiality through a queer lens. A series of bold, stylised images that question appearances and norms.

10. Seeds. Discover the beauty and symbolism of seeds through the striking photographs of Thierry Ardouin, whose “Seeds” exhibition explores diversity, origins and our link to nature.

Proufddag: tastings and discoveries at the Caves de Remerschen. The winegrowers from the Vinsmoselle estates invite you to discover the 2023 vintage and their latest releases in a festive atmosphere. Tastings, music, children’s entertainment and food trucks will punctuate this convivial day.

Fête du Travail et des Cultures. Music, shows and conviviality to celebrate 1 May. Organised by the OGBL, this festive day combines live concerts, street shows and entertainment for all the family. On the bill: the burlesque duo BP Zoom with “Mélange 2 Temps,” the juggling “Rêverie” by Djenebou Fane and Thomas Guérineau, and open-air concerts by Giacomo Lariccia & Trinidad and Jukebox. There will also be a clown show for kids and a food village.

Tuys: 18th Birthday Bash & EP Release. It’s an indie rock party at Les Rotondes: Luxembourg band Tuys celebrate their 18th birthday and the release of their new EP with a concert. Joining them are C’est Karma, Maz, Edsun, Fulvous and Poko from Eternal Tango. Expect an explosive evening of art rock, psychedelic pop and stage energy.

Get Out: Squatfabrik #1. Time for artistic experiments at the Kulturfabrik: the Squatfabrik offers artists a free creative space, far from the pressures of the market. This first “Get Out” invites the public to discover the projects of Raphaël Adams and Ren Loren Britton, whose work engages with multimedia and reflects on love and intimacy.

E Laf fir d’Natur. Go for a run for biodiversity in Kockelscheuer. The 21st edition of this untimed nature race offers 5km and 10km courses, a 5km walk and a children’s race. It’s all happenbign in a friendly atmosphere in the heart of the forest, to benefit the conservation projects of natur&ëmwelt.

Spring Awakenings. Inspired by Frank Wedekind’s play, this adaptation examines the desires, frustrations and violence experienced by teenagers. Incorporated into this version of the English-language play are contemporary testimonies, social networks, original music and hard-hitting lyrics. Expect themes of sexuality, suicide and social pressure.

Jean-Pierre Beckius: 125th birthday. A tribute to a master of light: to mark the 125th birthday of Jean-Pierre Beckius, the Villa Vauban is exhibiting 90 rarely seen works, tracing the different creative periods of this major Luxembourg artist. Moselle landscapes, Parisian scenes, Italian lights and Dutch canals make up this unique retrospective.

In Metz

Foire de Metz. Head down to the Parc des Expositions where, starting this Saturday, more than 200 fairground attractions will be taking over 60,000m2 to thrill young and old alike. Great classics like duck fishing and bumper cars rub shoulders with thrill rides, all in a festive atmosphere with plenty of on-site catering outlets.

U4 Steam Festival: A steampunk and musical weekend at the Uckange blast furnace. The U4 blast furnace park is transformed into a living stage with folk and Celtic rock concerts, raptor shows, body painting and steampunk wanderings. Between the magic of the Victorian world and the energy of the musicians, get ready for a trip out of time.

Au premier plan: testimonies and photographic views of the Fensch valley. Through the testimonies of women and photographs by Capucine Lageat and Antoine Perroteau, the exhibition offers a different reading of the valley’s industrial history. The opening will be followed by a conference/debate, open to all, to question the future of areas marked by the steel industry.

In Paris

Art is in the street: Revisit the golden age of the illustrated poster at the Musée d’Orsay: through almost 230 works, this exhibition traces the spectacular rise of the artistic poster in Paris at the end of the 19th century, driven by masters such as Chéret, Mucha, Steinlen and Toulouse-Lautrec. It’s a vibrant plunge into a Parisian street in the throes of social, political and artistic change.

Black Paris: between artwork and struggles. From “Présence Africaine” to “Revue noire,” the exhibition retraces 50 years of artistic circulation and anti-colonial commitments through the works of 150 Afro-descendant artists. Paintings, installations and photographs testify to the creative richness of cosmopolitan Paris, between surrealism, abstraction and the quest for identity, with a contemporary scenography inspired by the Black Atlantic. it’s the last major exhibition before the Centre Pompidou closes.

Concerts at La Sainte-Chapelle. Enjoy a classical music festival in an exceptional setting: over several days, the Sainte-Chapelle will host concerts featuring the great works of Vivaldi, Mozart, Bach and other major composers. It’s a unique musical experience in one of the most beautiful monuments in Paris.

The Little Prince: an immersive odyssey. A poetic 360° journey… the Atelier des Lumières offers an unprecedented plunge into the world of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince. In Arlon

Les Aralunaires. Five days of music and discoveries where Arlon becomes an open-air stage with more than 40 artists and 17 venues invested: expect to hear electro, folk, indie rock and hip hop… and there will be musical bike rides.

In Brussels

AI shakes things up at Le Hangar. The peaceful Châtelain gallery has gone wild before spring… by abandoning “academic” photography in favour of photography generated or fed by artificial intelligence. It’s a bold move, bringing together 18 photographers to work on projects that are very different from each other, and that illustrate the potential of algorithms in photographers’ creativity. From Belgian Pascal Sgro’s retro-futuristic “Cherry Airlines,” born from a database of 15,000 images, to “Protomaton” by France’s François Bellabas, which takes your portrait at the pleasure of the algorithm.
