Supporting SMEs in their digital transition is the aim of the economy ministry through various aid packages. The latest two were presented on Tuesday 11 March by the minister for the economy, SMEs, energy and tourism, (DP), during his speech at the opening of the Future Ready Days event. These are two new SME packages in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity.
“Developed by the ministry of the economy, in collaboration with the House of Entrepreneurship of the Chamber of Commerce and Luxinnovation, an initial series of two SME packages had been set up in 2019 to provide financial support to SMEs to meet the challenges associated with digital transformation and optimising the customer experience. This offer was extended in 2022 in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Trades with a package relating to the energy transition,” explains the ministry’s press release.
“No digital transition without guidance”
In detail, the “SME Package-AI” enables SMEs to be supported as they take their first steps towards artificial intelligence and to receive simple, easy-to-implement solutions for integrating it into their processes. The “SME Package-Cybersecurity” facilitates the implementation of technologies and procedures linked to IT security and strengthens the protection of SMEs against attacks.
Delles also announced changes to the conditions for obtaining this aid, as well as their intensity. From now on, financial aid granted under the five packages will cover up to 70% of eligible costs, for costs ranging from €3,000 to €25,000. It is also important to point out that businesses have the option of subscribing to several packages, once a package has been completed.
“AI offers many opportunities to enrich the world of craft, by improving efficiency, stimulating creativity and enabling businesses to connect better with their customers. However, it is essential that businesses use these tools thoughtfully, preserving the value of craft and authenticity in their work, and that they adopt a proper cybersecurity approach. There can be no digital transition without investment and guidance,” commented , director of the Chamber of Trades, at the Future Ready Days.
