As the Easter holidays are upon us, there will be little news from the Chamber of Deputies during the week of 7 April. But on the European side, the political players will continue their work, notably through conferences.

Luxembourg MPs' holidays are aligned with the school holidays, so MPs in parliament will be off for a fortnight from Monday 7 April. But the political world is not standing still. Here are the main highlights of the week of 7 April.

Monday 7 April

European Court of Auditors. The European Court of Auditors is holding an online press briefing on its upcoming special report on the transparency of EU funding to non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Foreign Affairs Council. EU foreign ministers will meet in Luxembourg to discuss trade relations with the United States and China. European Commissioner Šefčovič will brief the ministers on the state of trade relations between the EU and China, following his visit to the country.

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The spring session of the PACE will be held in Strasbourg from 7 to 11 April. It will focus on Georgia, Türkiye, Ukraine and Serbia.

Seminar in hybrid format “Machine Translation for Non-Translators.” At the University of Tallinn in Estonia, the European Commission is organising a seminar introducing machine translation skills and related issues to non-professional users.

EU Energy Summit. On 7 and 8 April in Brussels, the tenth edition of the EU Energy Summit 2025 will explore how to stimulate innovation, ensure affordable energy for industries and consumers, and maintain economic growth whilst driving decarbonisation.

Tuesday 8 April

Cleantech 2025. Held in Brussels, the Cleantech 2025 conference will examine the Clean Industrial Deal and how Europe will manage the investments that are essential for decarbonisation. In particular, the conference will address decarbonisation through innovation, thanks to initiatives such as the Innovation Fund.

Wednesday 9 April

First Global Government Summit for Social Innovation. At a press conference, Luxembourg’s labour minister (CSV) announced the first Global Government Summit dedicated to social innovation, which will take place from 9 to 11 April in Luxembourg. “This event of international stature will position Luxembourg as a key player in promoting a more equitable, sustainable and inclusive future,” explains the government.

Thursday 10 April

Ombudsman. First exercise in style for the . She will hold a press conference on the thematic dossier on the future juvenile prison centre, in her capacity as external controller of places of deprivation of liberty.

EU-Ukraine Business Summit 2025. On 10 and 11 April in Brussels, the EU-Ukraine Business Summit will serve as a platform to deepen Ukraine’s economic integration with the European Union and foster stronger cooperation and opportunities for European businesses. Co-organised by the European Commission, with the support of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, Italy--as organisers of the Ukraine 2025 Revival Conference--and the Polish presidency of the Council of the EU, the summit will take stock of the EU’s main financial instruments and cooperation mechanisms to boost investment in Ukraine.

Friday 11 April

Council of the European Union. Informal meeting of the ministers for economic and financial affairs on 11 and 12 April in Warsaw, Poland. The president of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, and Piero Cipollone, member of the executive board, will take part.
