Two days to shape the future of healthcare systems
How can continuity of care be ensured in the face of staff shortages, cyber threats and crises? What role should artificial intelligence play in healthcare facilities? “These questions will be at the heart of Healthcare Week Luxembourg, co-organised by the Fédération des hôpitaux luxembourgeois (FHL – Luxembourg Hospital Federation) and the Quinze Mai agency,” explains Jenna Ouzillou, HWL Executive Director at the organising agency. The event will bring together healthcare professionals, hospital decision-makers, researchers, industry representatives and institutional stakeholders from Luxembourg and neighbouring countries.
Speakers and highlights not to be missed
Clinical research, health data sharing, practices in the field… the HWL programme will give professionals the opportunity to explore several of the key issues transforming their sector. Organised in collaboration with the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the Clinical Research Conference will begin on September 29th at Luxexpo The Box, before continuing with joint sessions with HWL on the afternoon of September 30th.
On 1 October at 11 a.m., the Agence eSanté session will focus on how the next-generation shared health record and the European Health Data Space can contribute to a more resilient healthcare system. It will bring together Henri Touzard, Director of the FHL (Fédération des hôpitaux luxembourgeois – Luxembourg Hospital Federation), Mario Grotz, CEO of Luxinnovation, as well as Alexandre Baumeister and Marc Hostert, respectively Director General and Chairman of the Management Board of Agence eSanté, and Eric Sassel, member of the Board of Directors of the Association des médecins et médecins-dentistes. In the afternoon, a session dedicated to the links between nuclear technologies and healthcare will welcome representatives of the European Commission.
These discussions will be accompanied by several official addresses. Martine Deprez, Minister of Health and Social Security, and Lydia Polfer, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, will take part in the opening session on September 30th. Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, will speak in the afternoon, followed by Stéphanie Obertin, Minister for Digitalisation and Minister for Research and Higher Education, on October 1st.
Practices and innovations will also take centre stage at the Agora FHL, where short-format sessions will give healthcare facilities and professionals in the field an opportunity to share their experiences, particularly around clinical debriefing and telerehabilitation. On September 30th, visitors will be able to vote on site for their favourite innovation and select the winner of the Visitor’s Choice Award. The three HWL awards will be presented that same evening during the gala dinner.
Access to HWL is free of charge. We recommend registering online to prepare your visit, although visitors arriving without prior registration will also be welcome.
A morning beyond the event venue, closer to innovation
New for this edition, the programme will continue on the morning of Friday, October 2nd, at three partner locations. “The idea is to move from theory to practice,” explains Jenna Ouzillou. These sessions will provide an opportunity to discover the applications of the innovations presented during the event and to meet the teams developing or using them.
The Luxembourg Research Clinic will open its doors for an immersive look at clinical and translational research. The Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity will offer a workshop on managing a cyber crisis. At the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg, participants will be able to discover the Da Vinci 5 surgical robot, attend a demonstration and talk to healthcare professionals about its applications in the operating room.
These visits are free of charge and reserved for Healthcare Week Luxembourg participants, subject to registration and availability.
