Luxembourg statistics bureau Statec on 8 July unveiled its list of Luxembourg’s biggest employers. The State continues to top of the chart by some margin. 

There have been some changes in ranking between 2021 and 2022. While the government employs 32,848 persons on 1 January 2022--it had 31,049 employees the year before--the national railway network CFL snatches the second position out of the Post Luxembourg group’s hands. CFL this year counted 4,710 members of staff, whereas Post had 4,540 employees. 

The companies are followed by supermarket chain Cactus (4,440), the Dussmann Luxembourg group (4,420) and the City of Luxembourg (4,370). 

Every year and survey companies with more than 90 employees are surveyed, but participation is not mandatory.
